C·Power Completes Testing of Its Direct-Drive Power Takeoff

Columbia Power Technologies (C·Power) just completed testing its innovative direct-drive power takeoff (PTO) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). The PTO, which includes a 500kW generator, is being updated in preparation for use in a grid-connected demonstration project at the U.S. Navy’s Wave Energy Test Site (WETS) in Hawaii in late 2019. C·Power will begin fabrication of its StingRAY H2 wave energy converter device for WETS in early 2019. C·Power also commenced physical testing at NREL of mixed-material hull components for its structural optimization project and initiated an advanced controls project with Sandia National Labs.
